Abstract | Introduction. Nursing takes place in the context of the nurse-patient relationship. Although there is a vast amount of nursing literature about this topic, the nature of nurse-patient relationship in operating room settings remains unexplored. The aim of this study was to illuminate the nurse patient relationship concept meaning in operation room. Methods: Using the qualitative approach, a purposive sample of 8 nurses, 7 patients and 2 patient relatives were interviewed in-depth. The observation was also conducted and 14 field notes were written. The data were transcribed verbatim and analysed using the inductive content analysis method. Findings: The emerging theme was ‘reliance based caring presence’. Under this theme three subgroups were discussed: "nurse centered presence", "patient centered presence",” and spirituality-based care ". Conclusions. The paper concludes by highlighting the complexity of the nurse-patient relationship concept and identifies this dimensions. The results showed that the spirituality-based care is integral of other relational approach in operation room. This new issue need to future research. | en |
