Abstract | Background: Cardiovascular diseases are among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients. Therefore, predicting cardiac events in CKD patients is essential. Objectives: The present study aims to evaluate the predictive value of single-photon emission computed tomography myocardial perfusion imaging (SPECT-MPI) in patients with different stages of CKD. Methods: Consecutive CKD patients with an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR Results: Sixty-eight patients (32 males and 36 females) were studied. During one year, 50 patients (73.5%) had no cardiac events, and 18 (26.5%) were assigned to the CI group. All patients in the CI group had abnormal MPI results, and compared to the CI-free group, they had significantly higher summed stress scores (SSS). According to multivariate logistic analysis, SSS was a significant predictor of CI (Wald = 5.99, OR = 12.56, SE = 1.03, P-value = 0.014). Conclusions: The findings from this study imply the predictive value of SPECT-MPI in CKD patients. Patients with abnormal MPI scans and higher SSS are at greater risk of cardiac events and should be followed up regularly at short intervals. | en |
