AbstractVenous thromboembolism (VTE), including deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, are well-recognized complications of cancer and its treatment. Anticoagulation is the mainstay of both treatment and prophylaxis for VTE. Inferior vena cava (IVC) filters may have a role in the management of cancer patients especially in patients with complications or contraindications to anticoagulant therapy. With availability of retrievable filters, new indications have also been introduced. The aim of this presentation is to review indications, safety, complications, and effectiveness of IVC filters in patients with cancer.en
