Abstract
Introduction: Usually, traumatic tooth injuries cause unpleasant experiments in children, which quick and suitable action is necessary. In this way, the aim of this study was to evaluate the level of dentists’knowledge regarding dental trauma. Materials and Methods: In this cross sectional study, 57 general and specialist dentists in Semnan (Iran, 2015) were evaluated. Data collecting was performed using self-constructed questionnaire. After arranging with the selected dentist, we met them in their office and provided required information about our research. Then, if the dentist was agreeing to cooperate with us, we provided them the relevant questionnaire form to be filled by them. Results: knowledge about dental trauma was more in specialists compared to general dentists (p=0.007) although there was negative correlation between the time of the last study regarding dental trauma and dental trauma knowledge (p=0.003). Correspondingly, other variables (such as age, passed time period from graduating and times of attending to training course) didn’t show significant relationship with the level of knowledge about dental trauma. Conclusion: Since there is negative correlation between the time of the last study regarding dental trauma and dental trauma knowledge, we emphasize on participating dentists in dental trauma retraining courses.
