Abstract

Background: Hospital information systems (HIS) play an important role in the quality of information and services in health centers and can significantly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of hospital management. Objectives: The present study aimed to evaluate the success rate of the HIS in health centers of Abadan University of Medical Sciences based on the DeLone and McLean model. Methods: This cross-sectional, descriptive-analytical study was conducted in 2024. The research population comprised users of the HIS in health centers affiliated with the University of Medical Sciences. A total of 200 participants were selected through stratified random sampling. Data were gathered using a researcher-developed questionnaire, the validity and reliability of which were established. The collected data were subsequently analyzed using descriptive statistical methods in SPSS version 26. Results: Based on the three criteria of DeLone and McLean, the highest success rate was related to system quality (3.36), and the lowest success rate was related to service quality (2.99). The results of the statistical test showed that, based on the three criteria of DeLone and McLean, the success rate of the HIS was not at a desirable level. Conclusions: Given that information quality, system quality, and service quality all indirectly affect the success of the HIS, paying attention to these three variables can play an important role in upgrading and improving current systems and designing new information systems.
