Abstract
Background: The Arbaeen pilgrimage is the largest gathering in honor of Imam Hossain (AS). During this pilgrimage, medical resources are organized in temporary locations known as medical Mokebs. The strategic placement of these Mokebs is crucial for ensuring the safe travel of pilgrims. Artificial intelligence (AI), as a multidisciplinary field, offers various computational tools, such as optimization algorithms, to determine the optimal placement of Mokebs. Objectives: In this study, we utilize a genetic algorithm (GA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to optimize the placement of Mokebs, taking into account key factors such as the pilgrims' population density, proximity to hospitals and health centers, and the budget allocated for medical Mokebs. Additionally, online information regarding the location and medical services of each Mokeb, as well as the number of current pilgrims at each Mokeb, is communicated to other pilgrims to aid in their Mokeb selection. The results demonstrate the advantages of the proposed method. Methods: This AI web-based system for Mokeb placement and selection recommendation provides services for both medical staff and pilgrims. Firstly, it suggests the optimal placement for establishing medical Mokebs for medical staff, considering factors such as proximity to the nearest route, distance to hospitals and health centers, and the budget for medical Mokebs. Secondly, the placement results, along with other necessary data for Mokeb selection, are communicated to pilgrims based on their needs. This approach ensures that pilgrims visit medical Mokebs according to their specific requirements, preventing overcrowding at certain Mokebs and resource wastage at others. Results: The strategic placement of medical Mokebs is essential to facilitate the safe travel of pilgrims, considering various factors and constraints. Utilizing AI with optimization algorithms is an effective strategy for addressing this issue. Furthermore, the data collected from smart Mokebs can be used to prevent unnecessary multiple usages of the same medical services by the same individual across different Mokebs. Conclusions: In future phases, the recorded data can be analyzed to improve the management of medical needs.
