AbstractIntroduction: Coronary angiography is an invasive procedure for diagnosis of coronary artery diseases, which can be a source of anxiety for patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the situational anxiety and heart focused anxiety in patients undergoing coronary angiography. Materials and Methods: This descriptive study was done on 92 patients before angiography in Kowsar hospital of Semnan. Data was gathered with demographic questionnaire, measurement of physiologic parameters, cardiac anxiety questionnaire (CAQ), and Spielberg state anxiety questionnaire. Results: All subjects (44 men and 48 women) with a mean age 55±8 years completed the study. The majority of cases (59/8%) had moderate situational anxiety and score of 30 or higher from total of 62 score of CAQ. Majority of score was in avoidance, fear and attention domains. Conclusion: High prevalence of moderate anxiety in these patients and it,s impact on treatment and recovery course, necessitate special attention to this issue and establishment of strategies for reducing patients anxiety.en
