Abstract
Background: There is ample evidence indicating that nurses who provide care both in hospitals and in their personal lives are at risk of experiencing negative physical and mental effects, such as burnout, fatigue, emotional distress, and symptoms of depression. Additionally, studies related to these dual-role caregivers show that a lack of personal and professional resources and support, along with high family expectations regarding caregiving, can particularly expose these individuals to compassion fatigue and burnout.
