Retrospective Analysis of a Long Term Iodine Intervention Program in Rural Iran

Abstract

This investigation aimed at evaluating the effect of iodine supplementation on the IDD impact indicators in a group of 571 hypothyroid iodine deficient schoolchildren. Materials and Methods: Values of levels obtained were compared with data from our previous 1989 study in these villages and results of the comparison showed that total goiter rate decreased by 42% in 1999.
