Abstract  Non- Normative hospital waste management is considered a serious threat to the health of patients , workers , people, and the environment. In this regard, the present study was performed to evaluate the management of hospital waste in one of the highly specialized hospitals of Tehran in 2010 . To collect the necessary information , a questionnaire from the Ministry of Health was used . All items were directly completed through interview with relevant persons in the management of hospital waste . In total , the average amount of solid waste generated in hospital was 1750 kg/ day. The daily percentages of normal , infectious, and sharp winner solid wastes based on each hospital active bed were 54.13% , 43.46% , and 2.41%, respectively. These results showed that there was no appropriate waste management in the hospital and thus, appropriate actions to isolate infectious waste must be implemented .           en
