Abstract

Background: Prevention and control of cholera has a major priority in countries in which there is a high incidence of this disease. Objective: To determine the prevalence of sex, age, clinical and laboratory symptoms, complications and treatment of patients with cholera. Methods: In a descriptive study, 67 gastroenteric cases, hospitalized in Avicina hospital of Qazvin were selected by interview and observation. Findings: Among 67 cases (28 men and 39 women) with the mean age of 47.40, 31 cases (46.3%) had moderate dehydration and 51 were resistant to antibiotics. Most antibiotical resistance (62.7%) was to Erythromycin. Conclusion: Surveillance of Vibrio cholera in water and sewage system has a high priority in prevention against the outbreak of cholera.
