AbstractAbstract Background: Management of pain is one of the targets of anesthesia and intravenous block is a simple anesthetic method in reducing pain of limbs. Objective: To compare the effect of local anesthetic site in intravenous nerve block in upper limbs injury. Methods: This was a randomized double blind clinical trial performed on 100 patients in A.S.A Class I, and II with upper limbs injury referred to Rajaei Hospital, Qazvin (Iran) in 2003. Patients were divided into two groups marked as distal and proximal groups. Data were analyzed using non-parametric and chi-square tests. Findings: Following the injection, anesthesia was achieved in proximal group however, no significant difference was found between two groups, statistically.
