Diabetes control and its relationship with HbA1c and blood sugar

AbstractAbstract Background: Hemoglobin A1c helps to evaluate the efficiency of diabetic treatment for the last three months and the interfering factor of fluctuation of daily blood sugar has no effect on its accuracy. Objective: To determine the efficiency of diabetic treatment by HbA1c and evaluate its relationship with FBS, BS 4pm, weight, type of diabetes and sex. Methods: In a descriptive study and through random sampling, 100 patients who referred to diabetic center of Avi-Cina hospital of Qazvin were examined for HbA1c, FBS, BS 4pm. Findings: Of all patients, 30% were in type I and 70% in type II. The most beginning sign of diabetics were polydypsia and polyuria (58%). The average beginning age of diabetics in type I is 23 years and seven months and in type II, 44 years and 8 months. Diabetes control was good in 19% of patients, moderate in 59% and poor in 22%. Conclusion: There are direct relation between HbA1c and blood sugar, so that we can determine HbA1c from FBS and vice versa.en
