| Abstract | Background: The increasing frequency of accidents and disasters exposes public health to escalating risks, particularly biological threats. Rapid, coordinated action is essential; however, disaster management may be hindered by resource constraints, unclear organizational roles, and inaccurate information. Hospital preparedness plays a critical role in reducing casualties and maintaining the functioning of the healthcare system. Objectives: Given the need to assess preparedness in military hospitals, this study aimed to evaluate the preparedness of a selected military hospital for biological incidents. Methods: In this descriptive cross-sectional study, using the standard questionnaire developed by Amini Zadeh et al. (2022), biological readiness was assessed across 8 main dimensions and 20 subdimensions. The sample was identical to the statistical population. Data were analyzed using quantitative indicators and preparedness percentage analyses. Results: The findings indicated that, given its specialized mission, the hospital had a good overall level of preparedness for biological incidents. The center performed well in developing management structures and in safety and security, with percentages exceeding 80% in these areas. In the capacity increase area, preparedness was 73.46%, which was classified as Moderate. Overall, the hospital achieved a preparedness score of 216 out of 294 (73.46%), corresponding to the Good category. Conclusions: Biological incidents require rapid, coordinated responses; however, crisis management is often undermined by resource constraints and misinformation. Strengthening hospital preparedness is essential to ensure appropriate responses and the continuity of healthcare services. Military hospitals should therefore adopt appropriate strategies to prepare for such incidents. | en |
